The moments before the culmination of months and months worth of work and planning comes out of the studio and onto the stage. Nerves are high, anticipation great, excitement bubbling. A feeling that is hard to understand unless you have lived those moments in a pre-show “circle”. As creators we dream and plot and plan, trying to construct the perfect moment where the audience will understand the exact feeling we are trying to communicate. WHAT A WEEKEND FOR THESE TWO @sadsdance DANCERS! We couldn’t be more proud of our incredible students who successfully competed @yagp this weekend. After 4 days of high level competition, featuring the work of dancers/studios from all over Canada and the US, master classes in ballet and contemporary, we are proud to share that these two placed in the top 12 for their duet and out of over 200 entries @charlize_lloyd placed in the top 24 for her contemporary routine!!! What an amazing accomplishment. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has in store for these dancers. #SADSproud

As we head into a new season, we are reflecting back on one of our most successful and inspiring seasons to date… season 47 was one for the books! It was definitely the beginning of the comeback after a few very difficult years and gave us some much needed hope that dance was back! 💜💛 Last season was also filled with some AMAZING routines, created by all of the fantastic in-house and guest faculty pictured ! Looking back we are reminded that there is no “I” in TEAM - it takes a village! And that we should never take ourselves too seriously.. fun is always at the heart of everything we do - at the end of the day, even though we all work, train and dance so hard, the process still creates so much JOY! We couldn’t be more proud of our students, and all of their achievements this summer, training both inside and outside their home studio. One of the most amazing things about dance is the opportunities it can provide to participate in a larger culture! Being a dancer can open so many doors and bring new perspectives into view. This summer “dance” gave our students the gift of travel, a chance to engage with the local and global dance community, and have transformative life experiences. How incredible is it that our dancers are able to scale these heights and achieve their goals right from here in Markham? WE ARE SO EXCITED TO SHARE WITH YOU, THE MANY ACHIEVEMENTS OF SOME OF OUR TALENTED STUDENTS… ⭐️ SOLO FINALS ⭐️ After qualifying at regional competitions, several of our dancers accepted their invitation to participate in various solo finals. At these events they competed to be the best in their respective age categories in the company of dancers from all over Canada. At solo finals, the dancers participate in audition classes, interviews, and learn dynamic opening routines. All this in just a few short days. They also perform the opening routine and their solo onstage in front of a large audience. Congratulations to Mackenzie and Vanessa who competed in the All-Star competition at OTF. Congrats to Mackenzie who was also awarded a scholarship !! Congratulations to Quinn, Kate, Maya, Giuliana, Simran, Vienca, Zijun and Madison who competed in solo finals with Dance Canada. Special shout out to Giuliana who was 4th runner up and won the highest tap class mark in the audition classes out of almost 130 participants. Also to Simran who was 10th runner up and won the highest hip-hop class mark out of almost 130 participants and last but not least, to Madison who was 2nd runner-up Miss Dance Canada out of almost 50 participants. ⭐️ Con’t in comments… ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
